Nottingham City Library, Local Studies

Nottingham Local Studies Library on Floor 1 of Nottingham Central Library is a collection of resources describing history and changes in the local area from earliest times to the present day, including its communities, prominent individuals, industries and events.

The collection has a large range of information about the city of Nottingham and its suburbs, as well as information about the wider county.  The collection includes one copy of virtually every book written about Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, its people, places and subjects, as well as maps, newspapers, photographs, magazines and ephemera.

Inspire: Culture, Learning and Libraries is a charitable community benefit society delivering cultural and learning services across Nottinghamshire. The Inspire website provides information on the public libraries in the county, including which ones have a local studies section:

University of Nottingham, East Midlands Collection

The East Midlands Collection contains "books, pamphlets, periodicals and other materials on the historic counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland. It does not aim for complete coverage in any single county, but it maintains an unequalled collection of printed sources for the East Midlands region as a whole."
